September Staff Recommendations

Sep 12, 2023 | Hidden Gems

Looking for something new and different to read, look no further than this month’s staff picks! Each month we give a staff member a few prompts to pick some of their favorite books. September’s staff picks were chosen by library clerk Alec.

What is a book you would love to read of the first time again? Why?

Watchmen by Alan Moore. “At the time, it was so different than the typical superhero story. This was real and grounded in a way I had not seen before. And the ending was very surprising.”

The Watchmen Series is available on Libby as an e-book. If you would prefer a physical copy, you can request it as an Inter-library Loan (ILL)

What is a junior/children’s book you think everyone should read? Why?

The Giver by Lois Lowry. “I read it back when I was middle school. The way the story deals with ideas of memory and building a “perfect” society was very engaging to me.”

The Giver by Lois Lowry is available as a physical copy in either library as well as on Libby in audiobook and e-book forms.

What is your favorite read of the year so far?

The Nolan Variation by Tom Shone. “Christopher Nolan is my favorite movie director. This book is an in-depth look at how each of his films were made, including his thoughts and inspirations behind them.”

The Nolan Variation is currently not available in the library or on Libby. We are able to make an ILL request or you can make a request of purchase through our catalog.

Items can be reserved by:
