Historical Snapshot- Frank Pohl- A Haubstadt Pioneer

Feb 3, 2026 | Historical Snapshots

“One of the pioneer citizens of Haubstadt was Mr. Frank Pohl. He came to Haubstadt territory in 1851 and helped clear timber from the town site. He built one of the first houses in the area, on the lot just north of the Catholic Church, where the Sisters’ convent now [1955] stands. Mr. Pohl was the father of fourteen children, two of whom are still [as of 1955] living, Rev. George Pohl of Kokomo, Ind., and a daughter in Oklahoma. He carried a chain and helped place the stakes in laying out the lots for the original plat of Haubstadt.”
