Looking for something new and different to read, look no further than this month’s staff picks! Each month we give a staff member a few prompts to pick some of their favorite books. September’s staff picks were chosen by our teen clerk Gabriel.
What has been your favorite book this year?
My favorite book I read this year was of Mice and Men. I enjoyed the book’s rapid plot and the twist at the end that I didn’t see coming.
Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck is available at Fort Branch and Haubstadt Library and on Libby as an ebook or audiobook.
What is a nonfiction book you enjoyed recently?
A nonfiction book I enjoyed this year was The One-Straw Revolution by Masanobu Fukuoka. I took a class last year about how people and geography interact, and this book related to the coursework, so I picked it up and really liked it.
The One-Straw Revolution by Masanobu Fukuoka is available on Libby as an ebook or audiobook.
What is a book you are looking forward to reading?
A book I am looking forward to reading is The Feather Wars by James H. McCommons. It is about bird conservation in early America, and I like birds and birdwatching, so I am excited to pick up this book.
The Feather Wars by James H McCommons is available at Fort Branch Library or Libby as an audiobook.
