Looking for something new and different to read, look no further than this month’s staff picks! Each month we give a staff member a few prompts to pick some of their favorite books. March’s staff picks were chosen by our library clerk Alec.
What has been your favorite book this year?
Anything You Can Imagine by Ian Nathan. 2026 is the 25th anniversary of the Fellowship of the Ring movie. The entire Lord of the Rings Trilogy was back in theaters last January. This book chronicles the history of the making of the three films, from getting the rights all the way to winning the Oscars. Reading this book right after watching the movies again was very entertaining.
Anything You Can Imagine by Ian Nathan is available on Libby as an e-book or audiobook.
What is a nonfiction book you enjoyed recently?
Ghost of Hiroshima by Charles Pellegrino. I have read a lot about the atomic bombs, specifically about the American side and the making of the weapons. It was an interesting to shift over to the Japanese side and hear the stories of the victims and survivors of the bombs. A particularly interesting story is that of Tsutomu Yamaguchi, a Japanese engineer who was at both Hiroshima and Nagasaki when each bomb dropped on the respective cities.
Ghost of Hiroshima by Charles Pellegrino is available at Fort Branch Library and on Libby as an e-book or audiobook.
What is a book you are looking forward to reading?
Dungeon Crawler Carl by Matt Dinniman. This book is a litRPG, so what that basically means is it is like a Dungeons and Dragons style game turned into a book. I have heard the story and characters are very engaging. Sounds like a fun read to me.
Dungeon Crawler Carl by Matt Dinniman is available on Libby as an e-book or audiobook.
