Looking for something new and different to read, look no further than this month’s staff picks! Each month we give a staff member a few prompts to pick some of their favorite books. June’s staff picks were chosen by our library clerk Mikala.
What has been your favorite book this year?
I like the Kings of Avalier series by Leia Stone. Book 3: The Ruthless Fae King was probably my favorite out of the four books in that series, but each one is really good. Each book follows a new female character and her journey to find her place in a society where dragons, elves, faeries, and wolf shifters walk around amongst humans. The books follow along one singular timeline, so as you read, the story progresses, but you see each part from another person’s perspective.
The Kings of Avalier series by Leia Stone is available at Fort Branch Library.
What is a nonfiction book you enjoyed recently?
I recommend Heaven Is For Real by Lynn Vincent and Todd Burpo. It is a great book about a kid’s brief trip to heaven and what he saw.
Heaven Is For Real by Lynn Vincent and Todd Burpo is available at Fort Branch Library and Haubstadt Library and on Libby as an ebook.
What is a book you are looking forward to reading?
The Dinner Party by Freida McFadden. I think it’s fun to have a “choose your own adventure”-style book for adult readers. It is also a short novella, which makes it a great quick-read.
The Dinner Party by Freida McFadden is available at Fort Branch Library and Haubstadt Library and will be on Libby as an audiobook.
