Hidden Gems- February Staff Recommendations

Mar 12, 2025 | Hidden Gems

Looking for something new and different to read, look no further than this month’s staff picks! Each month we give a staff member a few prompts to pick some of their favorite books. February’s staff picks were chosen by our library director Laura

What has been your favorite book of 2024?

The Book Woman’s Daughter by Kim Michelle Richardson

This is book 2 of a 2 book historical fiction series.  I love being able to learn a bit about history while reading an entertaining fictional story.  It is interesting how important books were to people even when they lived in secluded areas. Do you know that there were blue skinned people in the Appalachia?  Learn about what life was like in the early 50s in the mountains of Kentucky.

The Book Woman’s Daughter by Kim Michelle Richardson is available at Fort Branch or on Libby as an e-book or audiobook.

What is a junior book that you think everyone should read?

The Adventures of Bob the Bat by D. Scott Davis

The author, D. Scott Davis, grew up in Fort Branch, Indiana not far from the library.  This book was inspired by a bat that lived in his house during his time here.  Word on the street is that there is another book coming from him soon.

The Adventures of Bob the Bat by D. Scott Davis is available at Fort Branch.

What upcoming release you are excited about?

Blue Water by A. Manette Ansay

I am looking forward to the book.  It is about two friends that live in the same small town.  Both families lives are changed forever when one becomes a drunk driver in an accident.  This book is a story of two families learning to face the unthinkable and in the end learning the potential for forgiveness, redemption, and grace. This will be the Modern Book Club book for March.

Blue Water by A. Manette Ansay is available at Fort Branch or on Libby as an e-book or audiobook.
